Bronze Jambhala Buddha Figure - Bronze Jambhala Buddha Figure Tibet, probably 17th/18th century. Bronze, patinated. H. 20 cm. Weight 1.23 kg. Very good condition with traces of age and use. Finely crafted depiction of Jambhala in a meditative posture on a lotus base. The drapery is engraved, the surface shows a beautiful, partly rubbed age patina. The underside is closed with an engraved copper plate. In his left hand, he holds a mongoose. The right leg is extended and ready to rise, while the left is bent and resting in a meditative posture. This posture symbolizes his readiness to provide immediate help. In Buddhist tradition, Jambhala is a deity of wealth, generosity, and spiritual abundance. He is not a Buddha in the classical sense, but a prosperity-bringing Bodhisattva who alleviates material and emotional poverty so that people can better pursue their spiritual path. The most common form, Yellow Jambhala, is depicted with a jewel-spitting mongoose, symbolizing infinite generosity. His practice emphasizes compassion: wealth serves not for personal gain, but to help others and develop a peaceful, generous heart.
