Large, rare jì-hóng vase with Qing Dàoguang base mark - Large, rare jì-hóng vase with Qing Dàoguang base mark China, probably late 19th century. Porcelain with copper-red glaze. H. 24.3 cm, D. of mouth 10 cm. Underglaze blue six-character base mark: ''Dà Qing Dàoguang niánzhì'' (Made in the Dàoguang era of the Great Qing Dynasty). Condition: Very well preserved for its age, without cracks or chips. Jì-hóng refers to a deep, rich, and uniformly opaque red with only slight color variations. It appears stronger and more intense than the peachbloom glaze. The technique originated in the Ming Dynasty (Xuande period) and was revived in the Qing era. Its use for larger vessels, such as ritual and offering vases, is typical.
