Blue and White Tianqiuping Vase with Scrolling Lotus Decor (chanzhi lian) and Xuande Mark - Blue and White Tianqiuping Vase with Scrolling Lotus Decor (chanzhi lian) and Xuande Mark China, probably Qing Dynasty, 19th/20th century. Porcelain, painted in underglaze blue. H. 20.3 cm. Spherical body with a long, slender neck. On the rim of the neck, a six-character mark: Dà Míng Xuande Niánzh (Made in the Xuande period of the Great Ming Dynasty). Good state of preservation with minor signs of wear. This Tianqiuping vase features a finely elaborated motif of intertwining lotus scrolls, elegantly extending over the spherical body and the long, slender neck. Although the form and decor are based on classical Ming Dynasty prototypes, later produced examples are often conscious reinterpretations that cite the aesthetics and quality of historical models. This vase presumably dates from the late Qing Dynasty or an even later period.
