Large Blue-and-White Porcelain Vessel in Yuan Dynasty Style - Large blue-and-white porcelain vessel in Yuan Dynasty style China, probably Qing Dynasty. Porcelain, painted in underglaze blue. H. 28.5 cm; D. approx. 33 cm; D. of mouth 20.5 cm. Decoration with dragon and floral motifs. Condition: Production-related glaze crack on the body, approx. 4 cm. Potted in the shape of a vessel, it has a wide-open mouth with a slightly everted rim, and the short neck leads to a convexly curved belly with a recessed base. The hand-painted decorations are executed in blue and white, showing an imperial five-clawed dragon flying through cumulus clouds over lashing Li-Shui waves. Blue-and-white porcelain is called Qing Hua Ci in Chinese. It is the most important type of Chinese porcelain.
