Bronze Vajrayogini Buddha Figure - Bronze Vajrayogini Buddha figure Nepal / Tibet, probably 18th century or earlier. Bronze, H. 16.5 cm. Weight: 552 g. Vajrayogini Buddha figure. Condition: Significant signs of age. Age-related corrosion marks with isolated, minimal perforations. Vajrayogini drinks from a kapala skullcup in her raised left hand, and holds a kartika ritual chopper with a vajra handle in her right. The figure under her left leg is traditionally interpreted as Mara, Bhuta, or a corpse-like figure. It symbolizes ego, ignorance, or other obstructive forces that Vajrayogini overcomes through her transcendent wisdom. In Vajrayana Buddhism, Vajrayogini is considered one of the most powerful female Buddha figures. She embodies wisdom, fearless clarity, and the ability to transform all experiences – even death, the intermediate state, and rebirth – into the path to enlightenment.
