Padampa Sanggye Bronze Figure - Padampa Sanggye Bronze Figure Tibet/China, probably 18th / 19th century. Bronze, patinated. H. 7 cm. The base plate bears a manufacturer's seal or an auspicious Buddhist symbol. The figure sits in a yoga posture. Condition: Age-related signs of wear. Padampa Sanggye was an Indian Mahasiddha of the 11th century who visited Tibet several times and taught in Dingri. He came from South India and traveled through India, China, and Tibet. He became particularly known as a teacher of the Zhijé tradition and as an important influence on the later Chöd practice. He spent his last years in Tibetan Dingri, where he also died (1117).
