Finely crafted appliqué and embroidery work of silk and cotton on a flannel ground, decorated with gold-colored thread, embroidered gold sequins, and glass beads. Dimensions: approx. 95 × 52 cm. Condition: Clear signs of age and wear, soiled. Kalaga embroidery is a traditional Burmese textile art in which colorful fabric appliqués, beads, and metal threads are worked onto velvet or cotton to create three-dimensional, richly decorated wall hangings. Scenes from mythology and court culture, executed with elaborate handwork, are typical.
