Walter Mutze (1893-1963) completed an apprenticeship as a porcelain painter in Dresden and attended the Dresden School of Applied Arts. From 1913, he worked as a flower painter, and later as a master painter and sample designer in overglaze painting at Rosenthal, responsible for apprentice training.
