Blume worked as a photographer, painter, draftsman, and performance artist and helped give new impetus to Dadaism. In his works, he intensively engaged with the philosophical ideas of Immanuel Kant. He gained great recognition primarily through his long-standing artistic collaboration with his wife Anna, with whom he developed numerous photographic stagings.
