H. 200 cm, D. 32 cm. -Condition: Multiple firmly adhering strips of transparent adhesive tape in the base area. For over three decades now, Gerhard Bär has been intensively involved with the re- and continued use of used plastic packaging. He is always looking for further application possibilities for this material, continuously exploring its functional and aesthetic qualities. The focus during the development of the ”Lichtsäule” was transparency. The plastic shade, illuminated from within by an LED tube, makes the supposed waste material appear high-quality and appealing like colored glass. At the same time, the materials from which it was made become apparent. The artist and designer group Bär⩷ was founded in 1992; consisting of: Beata Bär, Gerhard Bär and Hartmut Knell. It deals with the design and manufacture of objects from used household plastic packaging (from crisp bags to fabric softener bottles). Even in serial production, each object remains unique due to differences in color, detailed shape, and structure. The recycling objects are always a document of a certain time and a reflection of the colorful consumer world. Pre-inspection possible at the August Kestner Museum.
