Six Blue and White Kangxi Export Plates - Six blue and white Kangxi export plates China, Qing Dynasty, probably Kangxi period. Porcelain, painted in underglaze blue. D. approx. 21.2 cm; H. approx. 3.3 cm. Condition: Overall very well preserved. 2 plates have small chips on the rim. A blue and white export plate from the Kangxi period belongs to a well-documented transitional tradition: The early Qing kilns in Jingdezhen continued to produce decorations inspired by late Ming Wanli Kraak porcelain, but with refined Kangxi period painting, whiter glaze, and improved cobalt blue quality. The result is a hybrid style, often with whiter glaze, brighter ”sapphire” cobalt, and more controlled brushwork.
