Signed Japanese Polychrome Ceramic Kutani Seated Samurai Figure Playing a Bamboo Sho Gagaku Flute. Restoration to base. 10 inches H x 11 W x 8 deep. This figure depicts the duality of samurai culture, as both warrior and artist. The sho / flute was primarily used in Gagaku (classical performances traditionally for the imperial court).
