Persian Homoerotic Miniature, Qajar Period, Late 18th-Early 19th Century - Gouache and ink on handmade paper, a rare homoerotic scene depicting two youthful male figures in patterned robes and turbans, shown in intimate embrace against a field of Persian Nastaliq calligraphy. The lower inscription, Jens-e Mil (“sexual inclination/desire”), and the reference to Ali javan (“Ali, the young man”) clearly identify the male subject and confirm the erotic intent. The long hair of the left figure reflects the amrad tradition, in which beardless youths were portrayed with flowing locks to heighten beauty and androgynous allure. Measuring 5 × 3.5 in (12.7 × 8.9 cm), framed measures 11 inches H x 8 W. Condition: Minor toning, light handling marks, and edge wear consistent with age; pigments remain vibrant.
