Large Inuit Stone Bird Sculpture, Thadlik Nung (Cape Dorset), 1984 - A striking hand-carved Inuit stone sculpture of a bird with outstretched wings, carved in deep green stone with natural inclusions. The bird’s stylized form emphasizes broad wingspan and rounded features, typical of mid-20th century Cape Dorset carving traditions. Artist’s original Government of Canada Igloo Tag present and labeled: Thadlik Nung., Cape Dorset, dated 1984, with original retail notation. Thadlik Nung. (active late 20th c., Cape Dorset) is known for figural and bird carvings, produced during the 1970s–80s when Cape Dorset developed a strong international reputation for Inuit art. His works reflect a bold, simplified style and were sold through the Co-op system across Canada. Dimensions: approx. 15.5 in. wingspan. Medium: Stone (serpentine). Origin: Cape Dorset, Nunavut.
