Attributed to Mary Egevadluq Ragee (1925–1983), Inuit Soapstone Figure, Cape Dorset - A finely carved Inuit soapstone sculpture depicting a standing figure with arms extended, measuring approx. 4 in. high. The underside bears incised markings reading “MARY E” along with cooperative inventory numbers (5156 and 12626), consistent with Cape Dorset production. Mary Egevadluq Ragee (1925–1983) was an acclaimed Inuit artist from Cape Dorset, Nunavut. Best known as a printmaker associated with the early Cape Dorset graphic movement, she also worked in carving and contributed to the recognition of Inuit art internationally during the mid-20th century.
