Inuit Carved Stone Figure of a Standing Person - A finely carved Inuit stone figure depicting a person in a parka, standing with hands at sides, the face and hood stylized in traditional form. Executed in mottled green stone with darker natural inclusions. Height approx. 7 in. Condition shows minor surface wear and age-appropriate handling. The base bears incised inscriptions including Inuit syllabic characters, the number 175, and a circular mark resembling a “C.” These are consistent with Inuit cooperative cataloguing systems and artist identifications used during the mid-20th century. Provenance: Northern Canada; cooperative label and numbering system to base, acquired through a co-op distribution channel, likely 1960s–70s.
