Manner Lucy Tasseor Tutsweetok (Arviat / Eskimo Point, 1934-2012) Inuit Stone Sculpture 1974 - In the Manner of Lucy Tasseor Tutsweetok (Arviat / Eskimo Point, 1934-2012) Heavy serpentine carving of multiple human faces rising from a single abstract mass, an iconic 1970s Baker Lake (Qamani’tuaq) aesthetic. The underside shows clear incised date “74” (1974). Nearby are shallow scratched marks that read like an inventory number “917” and artist initials beginning “K. B…” (likely “K.B.” or “K.Bo-”; the rest is abraded and not securely legible). Surfaces show expected tool marks and handling wear consistent with age. Size: approx. 9 in. high. Community: Baker Lake (Qamani’tuaq), Nunavut. Date/Markings: Clearly dated “74”; additional incised “917” (inventory/catalogue) and initials “K. B…” (partially abraded; full name not legible) Condition: Overall good, scattered rubs, scratches and edge nicks from handling/display. Provenance: From a private collection with other Baker Lake carvings, 1970s; old penciled/incised stock number “917” to base suggests prior co-op or gallery inventory.
