Inuit Doll with Stone Face and Original Guild Tag, Pond Inlet - A mid-20th century Inuit handmade doll from Pond Inlet, dressed in a traditional wool and fur-trimmed parka with embroidered detailing, beaded accents, and suede boots. The face is carved from dark stone, typical of Pond Inlet doll makers. The original Canadian Eskimo/Handicrafts Guild paper tag accompanies the piece, inscribed “P-617” with artisan noted as Kanook (spelling as written) and location Pond Inlet, inventory no. ES-693. Height: approx. 10 inches. Materials: Wool, fur, suede, embroidery thread, stone face insert. Condition: Very good; slight wear consistent with age; tag present and intact. Provenance: From a private collection; retains original Canadian Eskimo/Handicrafts Guild authenticity tag, inscribed “Kanook, Pond Inlet.”
