M. Pissuyi (Eskimo Point, now Arviat), Carved Serpentine Sculpture of a Bird, 1977 - A large Inuit stone carving by M. Pissuyi of Eskimo Point (present-day Arviat, Nunavut), dated 1977. The work depicts a stylized bird with wings spread, its back incised with geometric linework evocative of feathers or iglu-like patterning. Executed in a dark green serpentine stone with a smooth matte finish. The underside is incised with the artist’s name “Pissuyi M” and the date “1977-1”, and retains its original “Eskimo Point” Canadian Eskimo Arts Council tag.
