Small Inuit Soapstone Carving of a Fist with Bird, Martha Kopalie (Broughton Island) - A compact and expressive Inuit soapstone carving from Broughton Island (now Qikiqtarjuaq) by Martha Kopalie (1927) - E6-76, depicting a clenched hand holding a bird. Despite its small size, the piece carries remarkable symbolic weight, blending human and animal forms in a manner characteristic of Inuit spirituality and storytelling. The dark green stone has been smoothly polished, with subtle incised details enhancing the carving. Dimensions: 2.75 in. Provenance: Labeled Broughton Island Co-op, No. 3103.
