James Houston (1921-2005), Hunter in Parka - Limited Edition Print, 1950s - A fine limited edition print by James Archibald Houston (1921-2005), Canadian artist, author, and central figure in the promotion of Inuit art. Signed in pencil lower right “J. Houston” and numbered 80/150. The work depicts a traditional Inuit hunter in a heavy parka, executed in Houston’s distinct pen and ink style. Houston’s efforts in the 1950s-60s as a government advisor and artist were pivotal in introducing Inuit sculpture and printmaking to southern Canadian and international audiences.
