Printed by Eegyvudluk Pootoogook, Cape Dorset, Northwest Territories (now Nunavut). Published by the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative. A rare folio containing eight original engravings by the celebrated Inuit artist Kenojuak Ashevak, published in 1967 under the supervision of James Houston. Each print is finely executed with Kenojuak's distinctive balance of animals and mythological figures, uniting forms into complex patterned compositions. Sheets measure approx. 20.5 x 13.75 inches. Kenojuak Ashevak is one of the most renowned figures of Inuit art, the first Inuit woman recognized internationally, and a Companion of the Order of Canada. Her works are held in major institutions worldwide, including the National Gallery of Canada and MoMA. This 1967 folio represents one of the earliest comprehensive print portfolios dedicated to her work, paralleling the height of her career after the famous 1960 stonecut The Enchanted Owl.
