The Montreal Biosphere is a prominent geodesic dome located in Montreal, Quebec.  Origin: The dome was originally constructed as the United States Pavilion for the 1967 World's Fair (Expo 67).  Design: It was designed by the American architect, designer, and inventor Richard Buckminster Fuller.  Structure: The structure is a large, free-standing geodesic dome made of steel tubes. It was originally covered in acrylic panels, which were lost in a fire in 1976.  Current Use: After the fire, the structure was repurposed, and in 1995 it reopened as a museum dedicated to environmental issues and water, known as the Biosphère museum.  Location: The Biosphere is located within the grounds of Parc Jean-Drapeau on Saint Helen's Island. Measuring 10.5 inches H x 52.5 L within matting, frame measures 18 inches H x 60 W.
