Japanese Antique Black Silk Kurotomesode Kimono Bamboo Cherry Blossom Design - THE SIMON CHANG COLLECTION - A Japanese antique black silk kurotomesode (high formal) kimono with five daki-mon family crests located near the upper right and left breast, the centre back and on the back of each sleeve, the lower hem with a delicate take (bamboo) and sakura (cherry blossom) design in white, momi red silk lining, circa early 1900's. The kurotomesode kimono is only worn by married women, cherry blossom represent renewal and new beginnings, while bamboo represents resilience and strength.
