Sealed exactly how it left the mint over 30 years ago.The 1987 Kennedy Half Dollar was never released into circulation, so interest in the 1987-PD Mint Set exploded. The mintage of the 1987 set was more than twice that of the 1986 set. The mintage of 2.89 million sets ranks third highest of any Mint Set (first place honors go to the 1976 3-piece set; second place honors go to the 1981-PDS set).About the sets: The coins in the 1987-PD Mint Sets were Uncirculated pieces pulled from regular production runs, thus the quality of the individual coins varies widely from set to set, and even within a set.
