Jerusalem, Hamesorah, 2002.   R. Nosson Kamenetsky (1930-2019) was the son of R. Yaakov Kamenetsky (1891-1986) Rosh Yeshiva of Mesivta Torah Voda’ath, Brooklyn and one of the great Lithuanian rabbis inordinately influential upon American Orthodox Jewry in the post-war era.  This deeply researched book is a study of dozens of the the revered rabbinic personalities that immediately preceded, and were in the same milieu as the author’s father, the exceptional Torah scholar, R. Ya’akov Kamenetsky.  Immediately upon publication, R. Yosef Shalom Eliashiv issued a letter of public disapproval, stating that the work was disrespectful to the rabbis whose lives it describes. Subsequently, zealous followers placed a “ban” on the book and all copies were removed from public access. Two years later, the author issue a “revised edition.”
