Wooden Box with Inlaid Carved Stone Plates – Cyprus Detention Camps, 1947/1948 - A wooden box with inlaid carved stone plates made by a detainee of the detention camps in Cyprus, 5708 (1947/1948). The lid of the box and its sides are inlaid with carved plates, the lid depicting a ship and reading ”Cyprus 5708” (Hebrew); the side plates decorated with a fine symmetric pattern. 19X13X6 cm. Good condition. Fractures. Small chips to the side plates. Small losses to wooden box. Provenance: The Rimon Family Collection.
