Long Fur Coat of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneersohn, daughter of Rebbe Rayatz and Wife of the Lubavitcher Rebbe – With a Letter of Authenticity Signed by Her Sister Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary and Her Son Shalom Ber (Barry) Gurary
Fur coat from the wardrobe of the sisters Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneersohn and Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary. [1940s].
Long brown fur coat (made by Eilers, Master Furriers of the Dakotas), from the wardrobe of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneersohn, wife of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and of her sister Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary, wife of R. Shemaryahu Gurary – daughters of Rebbe Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, the Rayatz of Lubavitch.
Letter of authenticity enclosed (handwritten note, in English), signed in Hebrew by Shalom Ber (Barry) Gurary (1923-2005), and by his mother Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary (1899-1991), eldest daughter of Rebbe Rayatz.
The letter was written by Barry Gurary, who first states: " I hereby gift… my aunt's fur hat and coat. Since my mother is here living with us I would rather she tell you the details". He then brings the testimony of his mother, Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary: " Moussia bought it in 1942 and as sisters we often traded clothing. She wore it from 1942-1948 and then gave it to me. In 1982 – I was clearing out a closet and I gave it to my son".
Only the fur coat is present, without the hat.
Good condition.
