Portraits of R. Akiva Eger Rabbi of Posen appeared already during his lifetime. In all the known portraits, he is wearing a fur coat and a fur-brimmed hat. The present painting is similar to the version printed in the book Igrot Sofrim, Vienna-Budapest, 1928.
48X38.5 cm. Wooden frame: 60X50 cm. Fair-poor condition. Wear. Many losses and cracks to paint. Defects and breaks to frame.
