The Binding of Isaac, color lithograph by Moshe son of Yitzchak Shah Mizrachi (before 1870 – 1940). [Jerusalem, 1907/1908].
The lithograph is divided into two horizontal panels. The upper panel, decorated with a stylized arch, depicts Abraham brandishing the knife, Isaac bound on the altar, the angel and the ram caught in the bush; Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, Eliezer and the donkey are depicted in the lower panel. The panels are flanked on both sides with flower filled vases and two small scenes from Isaac's life.
Two pair of lions bearing Torah crowns in upper corners, with the emblems of the twelve tribes.
An additional copy of the plaque, printed in different colors, is found in the Jewish Museum of New York (item F 4128).
63X45 cm. Good condition. Edges folded. Lower margin cut with slight damage to print, and loss of artist's signature. Marginal closed and open tears. Minor stains. Creases.
