Decorated Esther Scroll – Europe, 19th/20th Century - Esther scroll. [Europe, 19th or 20th century]. Ink on parchment. Esther scroll, written in Ashkenazi script on 4 sheets of parchment sewn together, 12 columns of text, 38 lines per column. ”Tagim” over designated letters. Large crown-like ornaments at the top of each column. Right, left, and bottom margins of scroll adorned with a narrow strip of black-and-white decorations in pen, featuring recurrent patterns: vegetal/floral, and images of curtains, ribbons, and chandeliers. Height of parchment sheets: 30.5 cm. Good condition. Few stains. Spots of slightly faded ink on first sheet.
