Yekutiel son of Yitzchak Blitz, with Toaliyot by R. Levi son of Gershom (the Ralbag) on Torah and Neviim Rishonim. Amsterdam: Uri Phoebus HaLevi, 1676-1679. Five title pages for Torah, Megillot, Neviim Rishonim, Neviim Acharonim and Ketuvim. At beginning of book, approbations of rabbis of Vaad Arba Aratzot and the Sephardi and Ashkenazi communities in Poland, and privilege of King Jan III Sobieski of Poland. Translated by R. Yekutiel son of Yitzchak Blitz, and proofread in part by R. Meir Stern, rabbi of the Ashkenazi community of Amsterdam, and in part by the Torah scholars of the Amsterdam yeshiva. Old signatures and ownership inscriptions on endpapers and beginnings of parts in Hebrew and Latin scripts (one dated 1729), and death inscriptions dated 1740-1755. [5], 63, [1], 64-75, 77-256, [1]; 17, [2] leaves (some leaves bound out of order). Lacking half-title engraving and leaf with king's privilege in Latin. Includes rare leaf with censor's apologia and haftarah chart (printed in 1682, not included in all copies). 30 cm. Fair-poor condition. Stains, including dark stains and dampstains. Creases and wear. Marginal tears and open tears to first and last leaves and several other leaves, including tears affecting text; margins of first title page and other leaves reinforced with tape. Close trimming, bordering text, affecting page headers and foliation. Old inscriptions. New binding. Another Yiddish Bible edition was printed in Amsterdam concurrently (see next lot).
