Handwritten glosses, by various writers, in early Ashkenazic and in Sephardic script. Inscriptions and emphasis within text. On endpapers, various inscriptions in Ashkenazic script on the identity of the author of the Aruch, based on various sources, and various references to contents of the book. On margins of several leaves, glosses handwritten by R. David Uzan, a rabbi and dayan of Tunis at the turn of the 20th century, author of Magen David. At the end of one gloss, he signs with his initials. Ownership inscriptions in imitation of Ashkenazic script of ”R. Rachamim son of the elder and wise R. Saadiah Chai Elha'ik” [the Elha'ik family is a famous family of Tunisian rabbis; R. Rachamim Elha'ik is quoted in Korban Avilechem and his daughter is mentioned in Simchat Kohen]. 2-242, 245-246 leaves. Lacking title page and leaves 243-244 (the largely corresponding leaves [176]-177 of Pesaro 1517 edition are bound in their place). 25 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains, including dampstains.
