Tractates Taanit and Megillah – Slavita, 1818 – Printed by Rabbi Moshe Shapira / Tractates Moed Katan, Chagigah and Shekalim – Slavita, 1809 - Volume comprising five Talmudic tractates printed in Slavita, some by R. Moshe Shapira in 1818, others by Dov Ber son of Yisrael Segal and Dov Ber son of Pesach in 1809: Talmud Bavli, Tractates Chagigah and Moed Katan. Slavita: R. Moshe Shapira, 1818; Tractates Taanit, Megillah and part of Shekalim. Slavita: Dov Ber son of Yisrael Segal and Dov Ber son of Pesach, 1809. Some words on title pages of Tractates Chagigah and Moed Katan printed in red ink. Rif, Mordechai and Tosefta bound after Taanit and Megillah; the leaves after Taanit were printed by R. Moshe Shapira (although the tractate itself was printed by Dov Ber Segal). Ownership inscriptions in several places. On last page of Tractate Chagigah, dedication to ”Beit Midrash Menachem Tzion – from the estate of R. Shalom HaLevi of Darbėnai”. [This inscription (or part of it) appears to have been handwritten by R. Yosef Zundel of Salant, who was responsible for the Menachem Tzion library in the Hurva courtyard of R. Yehudah HaChassid in Jerusalem]. Five tractates. Chagigah: 28; 6 leaves. Title page of Chagigah attached to leaf 184 with conclusion of Tosefta on this tractate (at the end is Shapira's fine printer's device). Moed Katan: 44; 3 leaves. Taanit: 35 leaves. Rif on Taanit and Shekalim: 169-182 leaves. Megillah: 7, 10-38 leaves. Lacking leaves 8-9. Rif: 138-160 leaves. Shekalim: 8 leaves. Lacking leaves 9-13. Varying size of leaves, 32.5-34 cm. Fair-poor to poor condition. Stains, including dark dampstains and traces of former dampness with mold stains. Wear. Much heavy worming to most leaves, heavily affecting text. Tears and open tears, affecting text, partially repaired with paper (especially large open tear to one leaf). Leaves and gatherings detached (the tractates were bound together, but parts of the book separated). Without binding.
