Collection of Posters and Polemics – Rabbi Kook – Jerusalem, 1919-1927 - Eight posters, notices, leaflets and polemical writings, discussing the appointment of R. Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook as Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, and his books. [Jerusalem, ca. 1919-1927]. • Besorah Tovah, large poster advertising R. Kook's upcoming visit to Jerusalem for his upcoming appointment as Rabbi of the city, and the reception to be held for his arrival. [Jerusalem, 1919]. • Yerushalayim Mevaseret, poster advertising R. Kook's arrival in Jerusalem. Signed by officials of the Vaad HaKlali Knesset Yisrael, administrators of Kollel Chabad, Etz Chaim institutions and Bikur Cholim hospital, with official stamps of the Vaad HaKlali and Etz Chaim institutions. Jerusalem, 1919. • Kol Kore MeHeichal, leaflet of Agudat HaKodesh protesting R. Kook's appointment as Rabbi of Jerusalem; letters and signatures of tens of Jerusalem rabbis and others opposing the appointment. [Jerusalem, 1920]. • Machloket HaDeot, printed poster reproducing a section of Orot by R. Kook, on differences of viewpoints and the danger of schism. [Jerusalem, 1920]. • Kol HaShofar, sharp polemical poster opposing R. Kook and his Orot, with letters of Jerusalem rabbis forbidding the book to be read, claiming it contains heresy and misinterpretation of the Torah. [Jerusalem, 1920]. 12 pages. Rare (most copies were destroyed). With official stamps of Agudat HaKodesh, distributor of the booklet. • Teromamnah Karnot Tzaddik – poster protesting the polemical work Kol HaShofar, signed by over a hundred rabbis and dayanim, yeshiva deans and officials of kollels and institutions. Jerusalem, 1920. • Berur Livror, uncut printed sheet, with four different polemical posters opposing the Vaad HaKlali in Jerusalem, in response to the Vaad's Berur Devarim poster, on the question of the rabbinate in Jerusalem. The posters are marked and were apparently intended to be cut and distributed separately. [Jerusalem, ca. 1920s-1930s]. • Lehargia Levav Yehudim HaCharedim, poster distributed after the meeting of the Imrei Emet of Ger with R. Kook during his visit to Eretz Israel in 1927, sharply opposing R. Kook and the meeting. [Jerusalem], [1927]. Large tears. 8 paper items. Varying size and condition.
