Miniature Silver Hanukkah Lamp – Germany, ca. 1900 - Hanukkah lamp. Germany, [late 19th or early 20th century]. Silver, cast, pierced, and stamped (marked with German fineness mark and with unidentified maker’s mark). Miniature (but functional) Hanukkah lamp, apparently created to meet the demands of the awakening Judaica market of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Back plate adorned with angels (”putti”) and flowers; soldered onto a rectangular pan with eight square receptacles for oil, bearing small, ring-like pipes for the wicks. Removable servant light (marked with identical marks). Quite possibly, the back plate was originally meant to serve as a napkin holder or business card holder, and was subsequently converted into an item of Judaica. Height: 9.5 cm. Width: 11 cm. Depth: 2.5 cm. Weight: 85 g. Good condition.
