A specimen of a share certificate for 100 Palestine Pound issued by Alexander Eliash & Co. Ltd., Bankers. Jerusalem: HaMadpis Lifshitz, 1935. Hebrew and English.
Share certificate of Alexander Eliash & Co. Ltd., Bankers, Jerusalem, with ten coupons (numbered 1-10). The inscription "specimen" is printed in red on the certificate.
The bank was founded in 1931 by Alexander Eliash (1896-1967). Eliash, born in Uman, immigrated to Palestine in 1926, served as the president of the Bnei Brit organization and worked in favor of the Jewish Yishuv in Palestine. In 1968 the bank changed its name to "Otzar Chisachon" and in 1978 became the "North America Bank".
35.5X21.5 cm. Good condition. Creases and small tears to edges. Strips of tape on verso for reinforcement.
