Bambara (Bamana) Hyena (Suruku) Mask, Mali - A Bambara (Bamana) Hyena (Suruku) Mask from Mali, Western Africa. This carved wooden mask features an elongated and stylized form, characterized by a prominent, ridge-like nose, deeply recessed eye areas, and two large, pointed, ear-like projections extending upwards from a domed forehead. The material is dark brown wood with a rich, weathered patina. The interior is hollowed out, revealing the natural wood grain, and features two rectangular cut-outs and a modern grey cord tied through perforations.
