A Pair of Framed Items: 19th Century Miniature Portrait of Queen Elizabeth I and a Stonington Bank Ten Dollar Note - An 18th/19th century miniature portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, depicted in elaborate Elizabethan-style dress with a prominent ruff and crown. The oval miniature bears partial text ”Eng. Elih. H. S. A. 133” to the left and is set within a gilt twisted rope frame. It is presented alongside a dark panel, possibly leather or paper, adorned with a central gilt-stamped crown and foliate design, all housed within a rectangular wooden frame. The second item is a separately framed paper banknote, mounted on an orange mat, titled ”STONINGTON BANK” and ”STATE OF CONNECTICUT”, promising to pay ”TEN Dollars on demand.” This currency features a whaling scene, an allegorical figure, and printed signatures, presented within a modern black frame.
