A Late 18th-Century Hand-Colored Stipple Engraving Designed by Giovanni Battista Cipriani and Engraved by Francesco Bartolozzi - A late 18th-century hand-colored stipple engraving, designed by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (Italian, 1727-1785) and engraved by Francesco Bartolozzi (Italian, 1727-1815). The print depicts an elaborate Neoclassical decorative panel design. The central circular medallion features a playful group of putti or cherubs with a basket of fruit, surrounded by a complex border of floral and foliate motifs, ribbons, and small birds. Above, a curved panel displays a classical design with mermaids flanking a central urn, while below, three smaller rectangular panels showcase ornamental fountain or vase designs. The print bears the inscriptions ”G.B. Cipriani Inv.” on the left and ”F. Bartolozzi sculp.” on the right. The print is matted in green and housed within a black and gold-toned wooden frame. Approximate framed dimensions: 31 inches (78.7 cm) high x 24 inches (61 cm) wide. Good overall condition. The watercolor appears stable with no visible fading or foxing. The mat and glass are clean.
