Victorian Aesthetic Movement Bride's Basket with Austrian Opalescent Hand-Painted Glass Bowl - A single Victorian or Aesthetic Movement composite centerpiece, commonly referred to as a Bride's Basket, dating to the late 19th century. The piece consists of two primary components: a ruffled art glass bowl and a silver-plated metal stand. The glass bowl is opalescent, featuring an opaque white interior that transitions to a deep blue hue along the elaborately crimped and ruffled rim. The interior of the bowl is hand-painted with scattered floral designs, primarily depicting red-purple blossoms. The underside of the glass bowl bears the faint impressed mark ”Austria.” The stand is constructed of silver-plated metal and features a highly ornate, scrolling handle with cast berry and leaf motifs adorning the sides, terminating in a decorative finial at the center peak.
