Decorative Boxes Including a Lane Cedar Chest & Enamel Peacock Trinket Box - A pair of storage and decorative boxes consisting of one branded cedar chest and one circular metal trinket box. The rectangular wooden box is constructed from reddish-brown cedar, featuring rounded edges, a hinged lid, and a keyhole escutcheon with a key inserted. The interior lid is marked with branded text reading Lane® PRESENTED BY ISRAELS DESIGNS FOR LIVING GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN. The second item is a circular, lidded trinket box, likely composed of brass or pewter, finished with extensive black and polychrome enamel work. The lid features a central relief of a peacock surrounded by stylized scrolling vines and pink flowers, accented with small clear rhinestones. The lid is hinged, and the interior contains a black velvet lining in the base. The trinket box lid is fitted with a mirror. Wooden Box: Approximately 10 inches long by 3.5 inches high. The wooden Lane box shows general surface wear consistent with age and use, but the construction appears sound and the cedar exterior is intact. The metal trinket box exhibits intact enamel work with no visible losses to the decorative surface. The mirror fitted into the lid of the trinket box shows significant deterioration.
