Truetone Model D-698 Art Deco Teledial Console Radio - This item is located on the second floor. A mid-20th-century Truetone Model D-698 floor-standing console radio featuring a wooden cabinet in the Art Deco waterfall style. Manufactured for Western Auto Stores, the unit is equipped with a large, multi-band circular Teledial tuning interface. The dial is surrounded by several preset station push-buttons labeled with various radio call signs, including KDKA Pittsburgh and WSB Atlanta. A tuning eye is positioned above the main dial. The rear of the cabinet reveals the internal vacuum tube electronics housed across multiple chassis. One identification plate specifies the unit as Factory No. 98A1-758. The internal speaker is marked for the Operadio Mfg. Co. 40 x 25 x 14 inches The radio is in fair condition. The wooden cabinet exhibits significant finish wear, surface scratches, and a prominent circular stain on the top surface. The original speaker grille cloth is missing. Several control knobs have been detached and are included separately in a plastic bag. The internal electronics are untested.
