Philco Model 39-40 Art Deco Console Tube Radio - This item is located on the second floor. Philco Model 39-40 (Code 121) floor console radio, manufactured circa 1939. The unit features an Art Deco style wooden cabinet with a slanted control panel. The interface includes an international tuning dial for standard broadcast and shortwave frequencies, two vertical thumbwheel controls, and a row of eight push-button station selectors. Below the control panel, five vertical wooden slats are positioned over a geometric-patterned fabric speaker grille. The interior contains a metal chassis stamped with the model and code numbers, housing various vacuum tubes and a large circular speaker. The cabinet is constructed of wood with veneered surfaces. 37 x 28 x 13 inches The wooden cabinet displays age-consistent wear, including surface scratches, significant finish loss, and circular stains on the top surface. The push-button selectors show damage with several missing or broken components. The metal chassis exhibits surface oxidation and dust. The fabric speaker grille shows minor discoloration consistent with age. Functional condition is untested.
