Montgomery Ward Airline Model 62-701 Console Radio - This item is located on the second floor. A Montgomery Ward Airline model 62-701 console radio, dating from the late 1930s to early 1940s. The unit is housed in an Art Deco style wood cabinet featuring book-matched veneers, rounded corners, and fluted vertical detailing. The front facade includes a rectangular tuning dial, four dark control knobs, and a fabric-covered speaker grille bisected by a central wood pilaster. The branded Airline dial face displays broadcast, police, and shortwave frequencies alongside numerous station call letters and is marked Made in U.S. of America. The rear of the cabinet reveals a vacuum tube chassis stamped with model number 62-701 and C-8, containing various tubes, internal wiring, and a large circular speaker. A vintage service label from Lees Radio Antique Radio Service of Holland, Michigan is affixed to the chassis. 38 x 22.5 x 11 inches The wood cabinet exhibits surface wear, scuffs, and scratches consistent with age and use.
