Each piece features whimsical, folk-art style illustrations of stylized figures accompanied by hand-lettered philosophical and humorous prose. The central, larger work is titled Aerobics and is dated 1993 with a signature reading B. Andreas. The text on this piece reads: Death take me now & spare me the pain, she said. It was difficult for me to get that excited. Get a grip, I said, it is only aerobics. This work is matted and housed in a red-painted wooden frame with a decorative leopard-print paper backing and hanging wire. Flanking the central piece are two smaller works in matching red-painted frames. One features two figures with text beginning they came to sit & dangle their feet off the edge of the world, and the other features a single figure with text beginning If you hold on to the handle, she said, it is easier to maintain the illusion of control. These smaller frames are equipped with sawtooth hangers and brown paper backings. All works are protected under glass. Measurements: 12 inches X 15 inches and 7 inches X 9 inches The artworks appear well-preserved under glass with no visible foxing or fading. The red-painted wooden frames show minor surface wear, scuffing, and small paint losses consistent with age and previous display.
