Bidspirit auction | Fedoskino and Soviet Schools, Group

Fedoskino and Soviet Schools, Group of Three Lacquer Brooches, Papier-mache and Paint, circa 1960s-1980s - This lot features three hand-painted Russian lacquer brooches from the Soviet period. The first is a round brooch featuring a polychrome floral bouquet in the Zhostovo style on a black ground with a gold scroll border, attached to its original RussKiia export display card. The second round brooch depicts a scene from the folk tale Marya Morevna, showing a couple with a white horse. It is inscribed in Cyrillic at the bottom Марья-Моревна (Marya-Morevna) and signed with the artist initials К. Н. (K. N.). The third item is a square brooch featuring a central red and yellow rose. This piece includes its original presentation box and two paper labels. One label is from the Fedoskino Factory, inscribed Федоскинская фабрика (Fedoskinskaya fabrika) and hand-notated роза (roza), while the other is from the Brest Souvenir Factory (Brestskaya fabrika suvenirov) in the BSSR, dated 1512-68 (1968). These items represent the mid-to-late 20th-century tradition of Russian miniature painting applied to wearable accessories. Round brooches approximately 1.75 inches diameter; square brooch approximately 1.5 inches.
