Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Vintage Glass

A Pair of Vintage Glass Marbles, Akro Agate Red Swirl and Clear Crackle Glass, c. 1930-1950 - This lot features two vintage glass marbles of distinct manufacturing styles. The first is an Akro Agate swirl marble, characterized by vibrant, multi-tonal ribbons of red, orange, and pink glass spiraling through a translucent base. This pattern is consistent with the ”Prize Name” or ”Corkscrew” varieties produced by the Akro Agate Company during the mid-20th century. The second item is a ”fried” or crackle glass marble. This effect was achieved by heating a clear glass marble and quickly quenching it in cold water, creating a complex network of internal fractures while the exterior remains smooth. This specific example includes small, dark blue and black inclusions within the fractured core. Both marbles are composed of machine-made glass. Red swirl marble diameter: 0.620 inches. Crackle glass marble diameter: 0.562 inches. Both items are in excellent collectible condition. The exterior surfaces are smooth with no significant chips, deep scratches, or ”flea bites” visible. The internal fractures in the crackle marble are stable and are a result of the intentional manufacturing process. Both pieces appear to be original and have not been polished or reground.
