Maddux of California Stylized Swan Ceramic Vase - A Mid-Century Modern decorative ceramic vessel produced by Maddux of California. This stylized swan features an elegantly arched neck and wings that expand into a large, fan-shaped scalloped vessel. The piece is crafted from earthenware and finished in a high-gloss creamy white glaze with soft pink and mauve airbrushed gradients accenting the plumage. The swan rests upon a molded base of stylized blue waves. The underside is marked with the hand-painted model number 79 in blue glaze. Height: 11.75 inches. The item is in good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or structural repairs. Fine surface crazing is present throughout the glaze, which is consistent with the age of the piece. Minor pin-sized firing pits are visible on the underside. There is light shelf wear to the unglazed portion of the base and a small brownish stain on one side of the blue wave base.
