Gentleman's Dress Jewelry Collection, Larter & Sons - This collection of gentleman's dress jewelry features a variety of Art Deco and mid-century accessories. The primary highlight is a set of three shirt studs by Larter & Sons, featuring circular black insets that appear to be onyx, mounted on the original blue velvet Larter Jewel Case card. The collection includes a pair of oval sterling silver chain-link cufflinks decorated with white enamel foliate motifs. Also present is a commemorative oval sterling silver fob on a curb link chain, engraved YALE CHICAGO FOOTBALL TRIP 1931 EFS. Other pieces include various base metal and gold-tone studs and cufflinks by makers such as Hickok and James Half Back, featuring decorative elements that appear to be mother-of-pearl and enamel. Hallmarks include 10 with the Larter & Sons maker's mark, STERLING, HICKOK, and WARRANTED JAMES HALF BACK. The cufflinks generally measure between 0.5 inches and 0.75 inches in diameter; the commemorative fob measures approximately 1.25 inches in length. The collection is in varied vintage condition. Several pieces exhibit tarnish, surface oxidation, and wear consistent with age. The enamel on the sterling cufflinks shows minor surface scratches and tarnish to the silver. The Larter & Sons studs appear well-preserved with minor surface wear. All mechanical components, including cufflink toggles and stud backs, appear functional.
